What is Carbon Literacy?

The Carbon Literacy for Community Action course is tailored for San Diego communities, connecting us to a global network dedicated to understanding and addressing negative climate impacts. It is specifically designed for individual community members seeking to affect change within their workplaces, homes, places of education, and communities.

A certificate in Carbon Literacy will equip you with the foundational knowledge to:

• Turn climate anxiety into climate action,

• Land a job advancing climate solutions or take on climate initiatives at your current employer,

• Jumpstart your ability to advance climate justice solutions in your community, and

• Contribute to a community of San Diegans advancing climate justice locally.

SCHEDULE

To accommodate busy schedules, online and in-person courses are available.  In-person courses are either one full day or two half days.  Online courses include live remote meetings of approximately 2.5 hours on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday evenings (6-8:30 pm).  Both options ensure you can complete the certificate requirements in one week.
 

FEE
The fee is $295 and includes the Carbon Literacy Project evaluation and certification fee.  We have made every effort to keep the fee as low as possible while covering administrative expenses.  If the fee is a barrier to your participation, we particularly want you to be part of our Carbon Literacy community and encourage you to apply for a full or partial scholarship. Thanks to generous donors, we have a limited number of scholarships.  If you are awarded a full or partial scholarship, you must commit to completing all training requirements including the Participant Details and Evidence Form (view a sample form).  You will receive guidance and support in completing the form throughout the training.
