Introducing the Community Clean Energy Microcredential

Updated: Oct 7

We are pleased to introduce the Community Clean Energy Microcredential (CCEM)! The CCEM is a comprehensive qualification that demonstrates the achievement of the knowledge and skills needed to champion clean energy. The CCEM is a collaborative effort, combining the expertise of IGC's Carbon Literacy Certificate and San Diego Urban Sustainability Coalition's community driven Climate Ambassador Training with the new Energy Equity Training!

Why a Microcredential?

The CCEM epitomizes the saying, "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts"! SDUSC's Climate Ambassador Training and IGC's Carbon Literacy Certificate are both excellent, San Diego based programs that emphasize the community's crucial role in accelerating climate solutions. It only makes sense to pair these perfectly complementary programs and augment them with a training that addresses issues and solutions specifically related to energy.

The CCEM aims to engage community members in the clean energy transition by:

  1. Expanding the impact of two complementary climate justice educational programs;

  2. Strengthening energy literacy through the new Energy Equity Training, and

  3. Inspiring increasing numbers of individuals to implement and advocate for clean energy.

Earning a CCEM also has significant professional advantages. Microcredentials often boost awardees' career prospects by showcasing their expertise and dedication to a specialized area, in our case, justice-centered clean energy solutions. Employers tend to favor candidates who have relevant certifications, which makes it easier for awardees to secure job opportunities, promotions, and negotiate for higher salaries.

The CCEM epitomizes the saying, "the whole is greater than the sum of its parts"!

How is this Amazing Program Possible?

This program is funded by San Diego Community Power with additional support from San Diego Foundation and Calpine Energy Solutions. This program is administered by San Diego Foundation. San Diego Community Power is a community-driven, not-for-profit public agency providing cleaner energy to the San Diego region.

Learn more about the CCEM and add your name to the inquiry list for the Energy Equity Training to be notified when registration opens.
